Description

NVIDlA Q3400-RA Quantum-X800 XDR InfiniBand Switch, 4U, 144x 800Gb/s Ports over 72 OSFP Cages, Powered by the Quantum-3 ASIC, 8 Power Supplies(Power Cords Not Included), Standard Depth, Managed, C2PAirflow, Rail Kit

The NVIDIA Quantum-X800 Q3400-RA 4U switch, powered by the Quantum-3 ASIC, leverages 200Gb/s-per-lane serializer/deserializer (SerDes) technology. It features 144 ports at 800Gb/s distributed across 72 Octal Small Form-Factor Pluggable (OSFP) cages. The switch’s high radix supports a two-level fat-tree topology capable of connecting up-to 10,368 ConnectX-8 network interface cards (NICs) with minimal latency and optimal job locality. The Q3400 is air-cooled.

Questions & Answers
Ask a Question
Q:
Does the XDR switch support backward compatibility?
A:
Yes, it supports backward compatibility through speed reduction. The 800G XDR ports on the XDR switch can be reduced to 400G to connect with CX7 VPI 400G NDR network adapters.
Q:
Does the IB switch support Ethernet?
A:
Currently, there are no switches that support both IB and Ethernet simultaneously. According to the IB standard, Ethernet data (IPv4/IPv6) can be transmitted over an IB network using the IPoIB tunneling technology.
Q:
Are the switch management functions, the NIC’s OpenSM subnet manager, and UFM the same concept? What is UFM?
A:
The subnet manager is the core controller of an IB network, responsible for network initialization, routing, and partitioning. It can be deployed on managed IB switches or Linux servers with OFED drivers installed and is one of the components of UFM.
UFM is a comprehensive platform that includes different types such as Telemetry, Enterprise, and Cyber-AI. Among them, UFM Enterprise is the most widely used, offering web-based full-network management, monitoring, and analysis. It can control the entire IB network (including HCA, cables, and switches) through in-band management. The server running UFM must meet software requirements and be equipped with an IB network adapter for in-band connectivity.
