Description

NVIDIA/Mellanox Compatible 400GBASE-VR4 QSFP112 PAM4 1310nm 2km Duplex LC SMF Optical Transceiver Module

NVIDIA/Mellanox Compatible Q112-400G-VR4 is an Ethernet 400Gb/s, Single-port, QSFP112, VR4 multimode parallel transceiver using a single, 4-channel MPO-12/APC optical connector. The 4-channel design uses 100G-PAM4 modulation and has a maximum fiber reach of 50-meters using OM4 multimode. This transceiver is typically used with a 400G and 200Gb/s BlueField-3/QSFP112 data processing unit (DPU) or ConnectX-7/QSFP112 based PCIe bus network card, connected to one of the ports of a dual-port 800Gb/s 2x400G OSFP port transceiver.

Questions & Answers
Ask a Question
Q:
Can the QSFP112 400G VR4 module be used on an OSFP port?
A:
OSFP and QSFP112 are two completely different form factors, and the QSFP112 cannot be used on an OSFP port.
Q:
What are the differences between Q112-400G-SR4 and Q112-400G-VR4?
A:
Both Q112-400G-VR4 and Q112-400G-SR4 are 4-channel optical modules packaged in Q112 form factor and used with 12-fiber multimode MPO fiber jumpers. The main difference lies in the transmission distance. On OM4 fiber, the 400G VR4 has a transmission distance of 50m, while the 400G SR4 has a transmission distance of 100m. Both can achieve optical interoperability within a 50m transmission distance.
Q:
Can one end use a QSFP-DD 400G SR4 module and connect it to a QSFP112 SR4/VR4 or OSFP 400G SR4 module on the other end?
A:
Yes, they can be interconnected. QSFP-DD/OSFP/QSFP112 only describes the physical form factor of the modules. All four modules use 4x100G PAM4 modulation on the optical side.
