Description

Dell Compatible 400G QSFP-DD SR4 PAM4 850nm  MTP/MPO-12 OM4 100m Optical Transceiver Module

Dell compatible QDD-400G-SR4 is a multi-mode 4-channel (SR4) QSFP-DD optical transceiver, designed for 400 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) links on up to 100m of OM4 multimode fiber. The QDD-400G-SR4 converts 8 input channels of 50Gb/s PAM4 electrical data to 4 channels of 100Gb/s PAM4 optical signals, using a nominal wavelength of 850nm, for 400Gb/s optical transmission. This module reduces the number of fiber channels and can interconnect with 400G SR4 modules on OSFP or QSFP112 adapter cards to meet diverse application scenarios for interconnection between different devices.

Questions & Answers
Ask a Question
Q:
Can OSFP ports use modules in QSFP-DD form factor, such as QDD-400G-SR4?
A:
OSFP and QSFP-DD are two completely different form factors, so QSFP-DD optical modules like QDD-400G-FR4, QDD-400G-SR4, QDD-400G-LR4 or QDD-400G-DR4 all these optical transceivers cannot be used in OSFP ports.
Q:
Can I interconnect a QSFP-DD 400G SR4 module on one end and a QSFP112 or OSFP 400G SR4 module on the other?
A:
Yes, the QSFP-DD/OSFP/QSFP112 only describe the physical form factor of the module and all three modules utilize 4x100G PAM4 for the optical side modulation mode.
Q:
What is the maximum transmission distance of QDD-400G-SR4 transceiver?
A:
With OM4 multimode fiber optic patch cable the maximum transmission distance is 100m.

We wanted to use this module on a QDD port switch to connect to an OSFP NIC, and it’s a perfect fit. These SR4 transceivers are working flawlessly on our switch, and we haven’t encountered any compatibility issues so far.

This is our first time purchasing 400G modules, and they are even easier to deploy than I expected, with no packet loss at all.
