With the acceleration of network clouding and the rapid concentration of business traffic to data centers, the size of data centers worldwide has expanded dramatically. Data centers are now gradually expanding to the edge of the network, covering a wider area. The need for interconnection between these data centers to function together has given rise to the need for DCI networks, or Data Center Interconnect. metro DCI and long-haul DCI are currently the two most prominent DCI application scenarios, with the metro DCI market growing particularly rapidly.
Key Challenges Facing DCI
Bandwidth: Explosive data growth with limited and expensive fiber resources
Cost: room rentals increase as equipment heights increase
O&M: The IT industry has insufficient staff and experience in optical network maintenance
Coherent Optical Transport Subsystem Minimalist Solution
Solution Description: 100G QSFP28 SR4/LR4 optical modules are used on the customer side, and OTU units are used to convert one 100GE service to one 100G coherent optical signal or two 100GE services to one 200G coherent optical signal.
The 2 x 100G Muxponder customer-side direction is configured with 100G QSFP28 SR4/LR4 optical modules for customer-side interfacing and 100/200G CFP2 DCO optical modules for line-side interfacing with AWG.
EDFA is configured to improve transmit power and system reception sensitivity, VOA is configured for link optical power adaptive adjustment, and OLP is configured for automatic fiber reversal protection.
